My days standing in muddy fields scanning row after row of one make of classic cars are, frankly, over. I enjoy the camaraderie of classic car events but I don't need to see 25 examples of the same car in different colours to feel fulfilled.
So it may seem a little odd to discover that we're organising a classic car event of our own. It's called Redditch Cars & Coffee and it's on Sunday 19th April 2015 at our unit. But the reason is simple: I like cars (particularly lots of different ones) and I like coffee. I also like bacon, so we're giving anyone who brings a car a free bacon buttie (as well as a free coffee). Cars, coffee and bacon: it feels to me like a winning, perhaps unmissable, combination.
Plus, if that isn't enough to float your boat we will have the classic car world's most likeable TV star, Fuzz Townsend in attendance. Fuzz's new series of Car SOS airs shortly on Discovery.
Redditch Cars & Coffee is also our chance to put a little back into the community. As well as helping encourage the local classic car scene, we're also donating £1 to Acorns Childrens Hospice for every car that turns up.
My taste in classic cars runs from Allegros to E-Types so we aren't remotely bothered what you turn up in, as long as it's vaguely interesting. We've got plenty of space and parking. Great Escape Cars will also be displaying some of our hire cars.
If it proves popular we'll be running Redditch Cars & Coffee quarterly. Every event will have the same basic aim: to bring classic car enthusiasts together in an informal atmosphere. With coffee and bacon.
The first Redditch Cars & Coffee takes place on Sunday 19th April 2015 from 10am to 1pm at 26 Dunlop Road, Redditch, B97 5XP.
